Fashion PR 101: When Your Product Is Featured In Magazine...

    Fashion PR 101

As a retailers, when your product is featured in a magazine, especially a magazine that directly targets your ideal customer, DON'T PUT IT ON SALE!

This month's issue of Country Living (yes I read country, what can I say, I love Shabby Chic) featured the most amazing Finnish mug. The best part, the mug was only $22.00! I flocked to the site to purchse the coveted cup.

What happened when I arrived? It was on sale for $15.50!

While that's great for me as a consumer, as marketing person it makes me cringe. It's Holiday time, the item is striking and at price point that would make me give it as gift to multiple recipients. As a retailer, why would you want to lose $6.50 per transaction?

Well, I'm buying twelve as presents for that price and adding them to my personal collection. Honestly, I would've paid full price. A lesson to be learned.
